Associate Director

Mais is an Associate Director based in our Dubai office. She has an MBA degree and is certified ASHRAE High Performance Building Design Professional and LEED professional.

As a highly qualified senior mechanical engineer, Mais has extensive experience in the building services industry including both new and existing developments that cover a broad spectrum of building sectors such as airports, commercial, retail, residential, hospitality, mixed use, high rise, and infrastructure designs. With her experience in sustainable design, equipment inspection,  testing, and asset reliability assessments she brings a well-rounded expertise to every undertaking and project management.

Mais is also an active advocate for sustainability, having a well recognised volunteering work record covering professional education and awareness in Jordan and Dubai. This includes contribution to the establishment of Jordan Green Building Council, as well as conducting multiple successful Green Apple Day of Service events, a globally recognized sustainability movement for schools.

Global Learning & Development Partner

Catherine is an experienced learning designer, facilitator and coach who can design and deliver content for face to face, virtual and digital delivery. She specialises in all aspects of leadership, communication, change, client experience and group dynamics.

With over 25 years’ experience in managing large client and customer facing teams, she has personal experience in all these concepts, which has provided a strong foundation. Building on this with studies in Educational and Organisational Psychology, Coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) she can create blended learning experiences which are both theoretical and practical.

She takes a learner centred approach to create the best possible experience in the educational space. Considering the different ways in which people take in information, think and learn she flexes both content and facilitation styles to meet individual needs whilst supporting the group process.

Holding a strong belief that learning spaces shouldn’t feel like ‘work’, she endeavours to create a safe yet light-hearted environment that fosters collaboration and curiosity around options and possibilities.

Technical Director

Paul has accumulated a wealth of experience in the industry since 1973 and has spent more than 30 years in the Middle East. His experience is evenly divided between contracting and consulting, giving him a balanced view of the industry and the ability to understand the practicalities of design solutions and the consequences of executing them. He has held senior design management responsibilities for a number of major prestigious projects across many sectors including district cooling. His extensive technical experience is invaluable in achieving project objectives and ensuring B&W’s designs are pragmatic, economical and sustainable.

Construction & Commissioning Manager

Nick is a Construction & Commissioning Manager based in our Dubai office. He is a competent and result driven professional with 30 years’ experience in construction & building services with 12 years international experience in the Middle East, mainly in areas of MEP Building Services Project Management, MEP Commissioning Management and Interface Management.

He has proven expertise in Building Services installation and commissioning, project planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, closing and handing over of all building services systems such as Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Electrical, BMS, Security, ELV systems and other integrated systems.

BIM Manager

Luke is a BIM manager based in our Newcastle office. He has seven years’ experience in the industry and joined us from a M&E contractor background, where he progressed from a trainee Revit technician to project lead in just four years.

Luke has an excellent understanding of building services engineering and building standards. He has a depth of knowledge in all aspects of the industry, bringing a well-rounded expertise to project and BIM management.

Mechanical Technical Director

Originally from the UK and with 15 years of industry experience, Adam is a Technical Director based in our Dubai office. Given the extensive proliferation of IT based services in recent times, Adam is mainly focussed on leading and assisting the delivery of mission critical projects.

His experience has seen him successfully undertake consulting, contracting and client-based roles spanning across several regions, including the UK, APAC, and the Middle East. This has equipped him with the insight and perspective that can help deliver a balanced and tailored approach. Adam strives to build strong and lasting relationships with clients and develop a deep understanding of their objectives and requirements, with a view to ensuring a project’s success.

Asides from client liaison and managerial or project-lead responsibilities, Adam remains very active on a technical front and undertakes a proactive approach towards innovation, problem solving and identifying added value opportunities.

Associate Director, Mechanical

GP is an Associate Director, Mechanical based in Manila office. He is a Master Plumber and LEED certified.

He has experience since 2006 working in construction and consulting companies, with projects in the UK, Singapore, the Middle East and Philippines. His expertise includes MEP coordination and design. He ensures that the design meets expectations in the most simple, efficient and cost-effective manner. He also helped various projects achieve its sustainability goals thru LEED certification.

Business Manager

Ann is Business Manager for the UK based in the Newcastle office with the responsibility of the development and implementation of procedures and business processes to improve operations within a number of business functions including HR, Marketing, Finance and Administration.

Ann joined Black & White in 2018 following a 12 year career within the construction sector. Ann’s ability to show flexibility and initiative ensures that she is a valued member of the the B&W team.

Technical Director

Charlie has accumulated 9 year’s industry experience, starting as a design and build contractor, and has since demonstrated an aptitude in design consultancy on behalf of both contractors and end clients. Charlie therefore has a plethora of experience in all project delivery stages, but with his practical background specialises in project delivery and ensuring design concepts are practically feasible.

BIM Manager

Love is a Mechanical Engineer with a Diploma in  Operations Management

He has 9 years professional experience in the infrastructure field. To date, he has worked on commercial, residential and metro projects in the UK, USA, Netherlands, UAE, India and Malaysia using software such as Dynamo, Revit, simple python coding and Navis works etc.

He has been involved in the HVAC design of mainly residential and hospital projects, as per the ASHRAE design guidelines. He is proficient in mechanical engineering and has excellent local knowledge.

Associate Director
BMS and Smart Buildings

Stuart has a wealth of experience in the BMS and controls industry with over 28 years’ in both contracting and consulting. From this knowledge base, and networking capabilities, Stuart is at the forefront of the industry’s continual evolution of the latest smart buildings and smart technologies.

Stuart has worked on a broad spectrum of building sectors, including commercial, retail, residential, education, healthcare, mixed use, public spaces, leisure & sports facilities, including many high profile projects in both the UK and Middle East, most recently, the Al Thumama and Ras-Abu-Aboud stadiums for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

In his spare time, Stuart enjoys running and going to the gym.

Chief Executive

Mick is the CEO based out of our headquarters in Dubai. Having joined the MEP industry in 1983 he quickly progressed his career with various Engineering firms. He has extensive international experience having been involved in projects in over 25 countries.

Heading up the newly branded Black & White Engineering since 2014, he established one of the world’s first global design centres in Manila. Currently based in Dubai, Mick has designed and managed client projects in ‘super’ high rise buildings, major mixed-use schemes and large hospitality projects throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia and has been involved in many of the region’s most notable towers. Having delivered many major colocation facilities throughout Europe, Mick’s focus is now in the technology sector expanding the company’s global reach to Europe and Asia Pacific.

Mick utilises his wealth of international experience combining his daily involvement in many major projects with business development for new territories in Europe, MENA and Asia/Pacific regions.

Associate Director

Iain has an extensive track record of working within the building services industry, delivering prestigious projects, working alongside clients in various sectors. Some of those sectors have included International Government confidential mission-critical, Rail, Transportation, Aviation, Commercial/Workplace, Retail, Hotel/Leisure, Education, Science & Technology Parks and Public sector projects.

Iain is a diligent hands-on Associate Director/team leader and competent lead electrical engineer, proactively delivering sustainable engineered solutions, from concept design through to completion. Iain is focused and strive to put clients first, whilst testing the brief and challenging what is being requested of the business.

Professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council, a Member of The Institute of Engineering and Technology and a Member of the Chartered institute of Building Services Engineers.

Associate Director, PH

Eric is a licensed Environmental and Sanitary Engineer. He has extensive design experience in the building services public health specialist field of storm and sanitary drainage, domestic hot and cold water distribution systems and gas piping. His ability to find solutions and simple but efficient designs are what makes him so invaluable to the team.

Eric has also been shortlisted in Middle East Region for “Public Health Engineer of the Year” at the MEP Middle East Awards in 2015.

Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Kylie has over 15 years of experience in the building services engineering consultancy industry in Singapore and Asia Pacific. Kylie brings valuable expertise and provides critical support in the design and delivery of electrical services for building projects across a broad range of market sectors and areas, including high voltage and low voltage electrical design for the power distribution system. She has worked on data centre projects, commercial, industrial,  hospitality, mixed use and residential, office fit-out and F&B projects as well as the design of substation and electrical infrastructure design experience.

Kylie’s has extensive experiences in electrical substation design and electrical infrastructure design experience. Kylie’s most recent significant focus on the technology sector and data centre projects across Southeast Asia.

Associate Director

Benedict is an Associate Director with over 17 years of industry experience based in our London office. He is a Chartered Engineer with ECUK and a member of both the IET and CIBSE. He is passionate about mentoring young engineers and actively involved in volunteering for the engineering institution. He currently sits within the CIBSE membership panel as a membership assessor.

Benedict specialises in leading, managing and designing many complex and challenging major projects from inception to completion working with multi award winning Architects. His work encompasses both new build and complete refurbishment and covers a broad spectrum of sectors from commercial, mixed use, historical and infrastructure design.

Benedict thrives on problem solving and believes in providing an efficient and technically robust engineering solution that exceeds Client aspiration whilst contributing to save the environment. He particularly feels that an engineer’s vision is to identify key emerging technologies that will revolutionise the building services industry.

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Tom is a Principal Engineer based in our Dubai office. He is a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. He has experience in projects in the Middle East, UK and UK territories such as Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands. Tom has worked on a wide variety of project sectors including technology, healthcare, residential, mixed use and industrial.

He has successfully tackled the challenges of a multiple data centre projects as lead mechanical engineer. He also led the shop drawing production process for One Za’abeel, one of the most prestigious projects currently under construction in Dubai. Tom has Middle East Region recognition having won ‘Young Engineer of the Year’ at the CIBSE Awards in 2019.

Director

Bobby has over 30 years professional experience in the field of mechanical design and project management. He has led the engineering design on a number of large scale international projects across many sectors in the Philippines, UAE, Qatar, UK and Indonesia.

His areas of expertise include developing schemes, concept design and preparing tender and construction documents. He has also been involved in district cooling projects.

Technical Director

Grant is a Building Services Electrical Engineer and has been working in the industry since 2000 gaining wide project design experience in Edinburgh before progressing into major project leading, resident engineer and client monitoring roles in London. Here he worked on major multi-use projects and high rise residential buildings for five years before returning to Edinburgh to lead the MEP design on one of Edinburgh’s most iconic city centre retail and leisure led multi use developments. Grant’s career led him into the Data Centre sector full-time and brings this combined 20 year experience to the team.

Technical Director

Jamie is a Technical Director and Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and the Institute of Engineering and Technology. He has worked across the Middle East, Europe and extensively throughout the UK since 2005.

Jamie’s primary responsibilities are project delivery, design management, client liaison and ensuring technical quality. His technical experience combined with his commercial awareness, motivated attitude and team leadership capabilities are demonstrated throughout all engineering challenges. Jamie has Middle East Region recognition having won ‘Young Engineer of the Year’ at the MEP Middle East Awards in 2015, ‘Electrical Engineer of the Year’ at the MEP Middle East Awards in 2017 and ‘Engineer of the Year’ at the UAE Construction Innovation Awards 2018. He sits on the UAE CIBSE Technical Committee and recently contributed to the development of the CIBSE UAE Design Guides.

Director

Alistair is a chartered mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the building services industry since 2002. His experience includes both new and existing developments that cover a broad spectrum of building sectors such as commercial, retail, residential, healthcare, media, mixed use, data centres, laboratories, public spaces, leisure facilities, sustainable consultancy, high rise and infrastructure designs.

Knowing the importance of accurate, economical, sustainable and practical designs Alistair leads by example by providing a pragmatic approach to MEP engineering.

Principal Electrical Engineer

Bob is a Principal Engineer based in our London office.

Having gained a solid foundation in electrical engineering through completion of a traditional engineering apprenticeship with Matthew Hall. Bob has over thirty years’ experience within the building services industry, having designed and managed many complex projects from feasibility through to completion. Primarily working on large commercial Shell & Core, CAT A, CAT B projects, Data Centres, High End Residential and Healthcare.

Bob has strong technical knowledge and practical experience and is fully qualified to test and inspect electrical installations. Bob has successfully delivered the electrical fixed installation testing of the entire BBC London Estates portfolio.

Associate Director (ELV)

Prasant is a qualified electronics and telecommunications engineer. He manages the whole ELV design team and coordinates with clients to meet project requirements.

He has more than 21 years of experience in BMS (ELV) design, engineering, IBMS integration in commissioning and has been involved in a wide variety of projects, in sectors such as data centers, commercial, smart cities and pharmaceuticals. He has successfully completed various projects from concept to handover.

He has a comprehensive knowledge of designing and engineering to commissioning including BMS, DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management Systems), Fire Alarm Systems, Access, CCTV, VESDA, Public Address Systems with all types of safety and security systems and implementing sustainable design to international standards.

Principal Engineer, Mechanical

Gaurav is an seasoned mechanical engineer. He is a goal–orientated person with proven ability to accept assignments and deliver desired and effective results. He has excellent organisational and communication skills.

He has 13 years of experience of Townships, High Rise Residential Buildings, Hotels, Resorts and Commercial projects in India and overseas. He has been involved in System design of chilled water system , Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV)System, Direct Expansion (DX) Type system.

He has also played a vital role working on innovative designs to improve the system efficiencies by using new technologies. He has the ability to manage  the operations team with flexibility for effective results.

Technical Director

Jihad is a Chartered Engineer with experience in the building services industry since 1990. He holds two master degrees: Mechanical Engineering and Building Services Engineering with Sustainability. He has been involved in leading clients across many sectors including aviation, mission critical, district cooling, hotels, industrial, commercial, office and healthcare. His responsibilities include design and supervision, construction and execution, and project management. Jihad has strong technical knowledge and practical experience. He is detail oriented, a creative thinker, and problem solver. Jihad has successfully delivered many mega projects within the Middle East, a number of these have been worldwide prize winning projects.

Associate Director

Daniel is an Associate Director in our London office, is a Chartered Engineer with an electrical engineering background who has worked as part architect and engineering led integrated multidisciplinary teams for many years.  This environment has given him the ability to contribute beyond his direct field of technical expertise.

Daniel’s focus has been on complex projects for both private and government clients, taking on roles as design lead on Data Centres in the UK and Europe, high profile Sports venues, and award winning cultural venues in London Bristol, Manchester, Doha and Los Angeles.

In consideration of the client’s aims he seeks clarity and consensus in a structured manner, while always willing to challenge the conventional way of designing and delivering projects.

Director

Having started working in MEP engineering consultancy in 1986, Brian’s extensive experience has been gained from a diverse portfolio of projects throughout Scotland and the UK before moving to Dubai in 1994 where he has led MEP engineering design and supervision teams on numerous major projects – multi-use, high rise, hotels, commercial, retail, exhibition centres, airport facilities, training facilities etc throughout the Middle East. Brian was part of the founding team of Black & White in July 2007. Brian was seconded to the Far East in 2019, where he developed business in the region and assisted in the Singapore office set-up before returning to Scotland to head up the Edinburgh office.

Associate Director

Ian is an Associate Director based in our London office and has over 20 years’ experience leading MEP teams with focus on technical excellence and energy efficient building services.

Ian originally worked for a design & build contractor before moving to a design consultants role so has an excellent understanding of the buildability of the systems proposed.

As a highly qualified Mechanical Engineer, Ian has worked on renowned projects and gained a wealth of experience in different market areas including data centres across Europe, offices, banks, luxury hotels, high and low rise residential and hospitals.

He has worked in the UK and the Middle East where he won ‘Mechanical Engineer of the Year’ at the MEP Middle East Awards in 2017.

Ian has a grounded approach and appreciation of other design disciplines, enabling him to work collaboratively and effectively within the project design team.

Associate Director

Craig is a Chartered Engineer who has a BEng in Building Services Engineering. Based in our Newcastle office, Craig has spent over 30 years in building services and has enjoyed working for both contractors and consultants giving him a balanced, broad and practical understanding of the industry.

His previous experience covers a diverse range of projects covering most traditional types of buildings such as retail, education and healthcare, to the design of data centres and even mission critical facilities in Afghanistan and also includes the management of the HVAC design on the UK’s recent QEC Class aircraft carrier projects.

Director

Robert has a 30 year track record supporting multi-national clients around the world. He has spent almost a third of that time embedded within client organisations and with a thread of data centre projects throughout, as well as diverse experience across Technology, Life Sciences and Financial sectors. Rob brings a unique perspective to complement our core expertise.

BIM Engineering Manager

Christian joined the Black & White team in 2020 as BIM Engineering Manager and has over 8-years’ experience in the industry. He holds a First-Class BEng as well as an MEng Degree in Building Services Engineering. He is the key BIM focal point for the Middle East and is responsible for assisting with the development of the business’ BIM standards and ensuring project compliance.

Chris has experience ranging from small to large scale projects, across a variety of sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, residential and infrastructure.

Prior to joining B&W he worked for a major UK contractor where he gained a considerable amount of on-site experience as a Mechanical & BIM project engineer. During this role, he managed the design and coordination of construction models from concept design right through to fabrication and installation.

Moid is a focused professional Mechanical Engineer with rich experience in leveraging consulting skills with strategic approach for driving entire MEP project life-cycle from design development to delivery. He has successfully lead HVAC design development & MEP coordination for various projects in Asian Subcontinent. He is a motivator,   mentor   and talented professional. He is innovative thinking with a creative mind and leads by example.

He has experience of more than 15 years and has successfully delivered more than 100 different kind of projects including District cooling Plants, Hotels for leading Brands, high end residential, mixed used development, commercial and mixed used development projects. He has developed sea water cooled district cooling plant for mixed use development in Jordan. He strives to deliver energy efficient designs implementing latest technologies

The key challenge includes transforming design to actual installation at remote sites by managing documentation & communication with contractors and other stake holders to maintain actual design intent, performance & client expectation.

Associate Director, Mechanical

Sazaad is a professional Engineer with nearly 22 years of experience in Building Services, with a passion for quality and high standards in all aspects of  building design in India and the Middle East. As Associate Director MEP, he is responsible for the mechanical design and coordination of all MEP services, delivering projects to the highest standards and within budget.

Sazaad has a comprehensive knowledge of designing and developing form concept to commissioning, including HVAC, Public Health, Fire protection systems and implementing sustainable design with a focus on energy efficiency for projects with international standards.

Sazaad has wide experience with various lead design consultancies involved in large multi-purpose building projects, including residential, hotel, commercial, hospitals, convention centres and airports, throughout India and the middle east.

Head of Land Development

Associate Director

Experience: Entered the industry in 2005.

Phillip is a Chartered Engineer holding a BEng in Building Services Engineering. Based in our Newcastle office, Phillip is experience engineer working on a wide range of sectors in the North East and UK sectors, managing and delivering these projects to the client’s expectations. He works efficiently and effectively with his team to provide low energy design solutions, to limit carbon emissions produced.

Phillip is the current CIBSE North East chair and is working to raise awareness of Building Services Engineering and support members in the region.

UK & Europe Regional Director

Steven is a Director of Black & White Engineering with responsibility for running the UK and Europe region of the business.

Steven is a chartered, degree qualified engineer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (FCIBSE), a member of the Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) and a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant. In addition to the UK, he has lived and worked in both the UAE and Qatar and has 20 years’ experience in the building services industry, working on projects in the UK, Middle East and Asia.

Steven’s experience encompasses mission critical projects and data centres, high rise, critical, commercial, residential, retail, hotel/leisure and mixed use developments leading teams and design offices in both the UK and in the Middle East. His current role as part of the B&W global team means daily involvement in a number of major projects across the UK and Europe.

As a result of his Middle East experience, Steven was an author involved in writing the CIBSE publication Buildings in Extreme Environments for Arid Climates and for the past 6 years’ has been part of the CIBSE CPD Technical Review Panel.

Design Manager

Ben is a Design Manager based in our London office. He has acquired a range of experience in the assessment, design and management of highways structures and civils infrastructure projects. Most notably, these include Hamad International Airport, London Bridge Station Redevelopment and Old Street Station Redevelopment. He is also very proud of his work with the STEM Learning Programme and is a STEM Ambassador.

Ben brings a grounded approach to B&W with an appreciation of other design disciplines, enabling him to work collaboratively and effectively within the project design team. He is a well-rounded individual that has the agility, functional expertise, and leadership to consistently deliver projects with ever-changing landscapes.

Electrical Design Manager

Lorenzo’s extensive experience in the building services industry encompases the design of highly serviced buildings throughout the Middle east, the UK and Asia. Lorenzo is a very experienced electrical engineer covering all aspects within the discipline and is particularly skilled in lighting modelling.

His experience includes design and post contract services, review of designs, value engineering, site inspection and facility survey.

Lead Design Manager

Sarah is our Lead Design Manager based in the London Office. She is a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers and holds a Project Management Qualification with the Association of Project Management and an IOSH SHE Construction Management qualification.

Sarah gained extensive experience in the design and management of highway structures and civil infrastructure projects in the UK before moving into the project and design management of data centres. She has experience working with a variety of global tech clients on projects around the world.

Sarah values building strong client and contractor relationships. She enjoys working within a fully multi-disciplinary team to drive delivery in high pressure environments. She is passionate and brings a grounded approach to project and design management at B&W.

Bid Proposal & Business Development Manager

Javanna is B&W’s Bid Proposal & Business Development Manager based in the London office. She is assembling a bid team with the relevant service/business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. She is responsible for managing opportunities from qualification through to contract award. Responsibilities also include the introduction and implementation of all necessary proposal procedures and processes.

Javanna has had a varied career to date, with experience in government and fortune 500 companies while gaining excellent communication and interpersonal skills through working in diverse cultures. With a master’s degree in International Management from the University of Buckingham’s International Business School, Javanna joined Black & White in 2020 and has brought a fundamental difference to the success of the company. Being a multilingual speaker brings another advantage to the B&W team. Javanna’s ability to show flexibility, initiative and innovation when dealing with challenging situations ensures she is a highly valued member of the B&W team.

Associate Director

Stuart is an Associate Director based in our Edinburgh office.  He is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.

Stuart is adept at Mechanical Design, Net Zero Solutions, Operations Engineering, Asset Management and Project Management.  He began his career in consultancy working on projects across the UK and Europe before gaining Client-side experience in Edinburgh.  His project experience covers an array of building types and infrastructure projects which include mission critical facilities such as laboratories, factories and datacentres as well as district energy systems. Stuart was a key member of the Edinburgh St James design team and drove the technical standards for a £1b Capital Development plan while working Client-side.

Stuart looks to build on his 16 years’ experience in the construction industry with Black & White Engineering, focusing on mission critical projects.

Associate Director, Mechanical

Gil is an Associate Director, Mechanical based in Manila office. He is a Registered Mechanical Engineer and Associate Member of ASHRAE.

He has experience since 2000 and has has a wide range of experience in the field of mechanical engineering, particularly in the design of centralized HVAC and other related mechanical works.

He has experience in an extensive variety of projects from design, construction drawings, shop drawings, feasibility studies, project management, testing & commissioning, and site supervision. Designs have been completed in compliance with international codes and standards.

Associate Director

Sohan is an Electrical Engineer, having Graduated in Electrical Engineering from KSOU Karnataka. He manages MEP teams and coordinates with the client to meet project requirements.

He has more than 17 years experience in the consultancy field and is involved in every type of project, i.e. commercial, residential, hospitality, education and healthcare. He has a good knowledge of BIM CDE platform and has handled various international projects for BIM coordination.

He is involved in designing prestigious hotel brands such as IHG, Marriott, Radisson, Hilton, Sheraton etc. He has an impressive background in electrical engineering and has a very good local design standards knowledge

Design Manager

Associate Director

Ross is an Associate Director based in our Edinburgh office.  He is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.

Ross brings extensive knowledge and ideas from over 20 years’ experience he has gained in Consultancy across a wide range of industry sectors.  This includes a strong working understanding of thermal and energy modelling using IES. ​

Ross displays a technical focus with an excellent understanding of other design disciplines, allowing him to collaborate effectively with all members of the wider project team. Emmanuel is an Associate Director, Electrical in our Manila office. He is a member of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has a MSc in Electrical Engineering with his major in Power Systems. Having started in the industry in 1985, he has extensive experience in the design of electrical power systems.

Emmanuel prepares high level and detailed designs for high voltage and low voltage electrical systems.

Richard has experience in the MEP Building Services Industry and construction with over 15 years’ of experience including design of full range Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems, Public Health and Fire Protection Services for retail developments & shopping centres, offices, mixed-use commercial establishments, high-rise buildings, residential, hotels, broadcasting studios, airports, data centers, F&B, refurbishment and fit-out projects.

Prior to joining B&W, Richard worked on a number of international mechanical design projects in various parts of Asia, UK and the US, providing complete mechanical design packages.

Richard also gained considerable site experience in Philippines, Baku, Azerbaijan and United Arab Emitates (UAE) before relocating to Singapore.

Esther has 18 years of experience working in the building environment and has successfully led a wide range of projects where sustainability is always at its core.  She is a chartered engineer with the Engineering Council in the United Kingdom and a member CIBSE, she has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Madrid’s Politecnica University and an MSc in Building services Engineering from LSBU in London.

Esther is a skilled designer and project coordinator with strong interpersonal skills that believes that an engineer doesn’t have to fit in ether in the “technical person” or in the “client facing person” box, it is possible to be both. Her vast project experience and deep dive approach on the complexities of each project allows her to provide fit for purpose proposals that meet the client’s vision. She has a strong attention to detail and applies lessons learnt to identify potential opportunities that mitigate project’s risks.  Her approachable nature and good communication skills have allowed her to establish a good working rapport with clients and multidisciplinary teams creating environments of trust and respect leading to a successful project delivery.

Esther is a strong team player that has led diverse and multi-national teams working under pressure and achieving tough deadlines without compromising quality or technical rigour.  She has worked on a wide portfolio of high-profile projects spanning from large high level master planning to the detail design of complex refurbishments as well as on-site work. She specialises on leading large complex projects and has worked on a wide variety of sectors such as residential, mix-use, retail, education, offices, airports, high rise, stadia, and she is now focusing on data centre work. The project leadership skills built up over the years led her to be MEP design manager for a high-profile, multistorey mega-scale data centre project in Singapore.

Jonathan has a background in design and installation of mechanical and domestic services for commercial and retail premises. He possesses detailed knowledge of the design and installation facets of projects giving him the ability to deal with all aspects of the process from the initial survey, design, budget and approval process to commissioning and final account. His managerial experience includes leading site supervision teams, project managers, technicians and contractors. As well as designing and project managing, Jonathan has undertaken detailed viability and dilapidation surveys of all types of premises.

Floben is an Associate Director, Hydraulics with 13 years of experience in building hydraulic systems, specifically fire protection, plumbing and gas systems.

He is a member of NFPA. Projects he has been involved with include data centres, high rise residential, hotel and office buildings, malls, mixed use buildings, site wide fire protection and public health systems, and pumping stations. His experience includes a host of high-profile projects, designed to international codes and standards in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, UK and Australia.

He is well versed with codes and standards that are used internationally such as NFPA and British Standards.

Principal Electrical Engineer

Global BIM Lead

Since joining B&W in 2014, Chris has been an invaluable member of the B&W team, taking on responsibility over and above his role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. As Global BIM Leader he is now responsible for developing the use of Building Information Modelling techniques, standards and training throughout the company. Chris has been integral to the development of Black & White’s BIM strategy, playing a pivotal role in the implementation of BIM in some of our major projects. Chris is an Autodesk Revit Certified Professional and his attention to detail is a key attribute to successfully lead our BIM process.

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Ralph is a Principal Engineer based in Manila office. He is a Registered Mechanical Engineer, a member of Project Management Institute and a registered Project Management Professional (PMP)®.

He has experience since 2010, covers project delivery of different large-scale projects ranging from high rise residential, hotel, malls, data centre and mixed-use building across UAE, UK and Azerbaijan.

Garry is a highly motivated, skilled, qualified, and respected building services professional with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. Garry started his career with a national mechanical contractor and following successful completion of training moved into consultancy. A large part of Garry’s career has been spent specialising in the development of new build projects with particular emphasis on low carbon energy and sustainability. Most recently leading the mechanical engineering design of hyperscale data centre facilities for leading cloud service providers.

Obi is a chartered mechanical engineer with over 15 year’s experience in designing and delivering engineering solutions across a variety of sectors, with a focus on delivering engineering best practice, through innovative and sustainable designs. He has a holistic approach to the design of engineering solutions, having held roles with consultants, D&B contractors and as the clients’ representative.

Obi received industry recognition for his drive and leadership by winning the ‘2008 Newcomer Award’ from Building magazine, early in his career.

He has led multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects and was previously the PMO engineering lead for Barclays retail estate portfolio, where he managed the delivery of engineering solutions across 35-40 projects per year.

Obi has extensive experience of designing and delivering coworking office projects, having delivered several ‘Spaces’ offices through the Regus framework. He has also managed the fit out of three ‘Barclays Eagle Labs’, which are creative coworking spaces for nurturing innovation and bringing together Tech start-ups within an innovation community. He has also led the design of a number of commercial office projects, supporting corporate clients to achieve their workplace strategies.

Rachel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) with over 15 years’ experience in HR leadership roles. Having led generalist HR teams and centres of expertise such as Talent Acquisition, Reward and Organisation Development, Rachel has a “hands on” and practical approach to developing strong people plans that add value to both the B&W business and it’s colleagues.

With a global remit, Rachel’s role is multi-faceted and works in service of delivering the key strategic ambitions of B&W. Rachel is motivated to succeed by developing relationships with a high sense of trust and purpose in order to deliver business goals through diverse teams and inclusive behaviours.

Dhiran is a Principal Mechanical Engineer based in our London office.

He has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) and is on course to attaining Chartership, while being a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering (CIBSE).

Dhiran has extensive experience across numerous building sectors, specialising in Data Centres and Commercial offices. With a strong working knowledge of building services engineering and construction projects, Dhiran has well-rounded expertise to each undertaking and project management. While Dhiran has been the project lead and lead mechanical engineer for a number of projects, he also has significant expertise in being a client’s technical advisor and representative. With a passion for seeing projects through from feasibility and concept design to practical completion, Dhiran strives to be the clients go to consultant.

A Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council in the United Kingdom, a member of the IET and CIBSE, an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) with the Uptime Institute, Jason is a Technical Director based in the Singapore Office. He has been in the industry for 20 years having worked in the UK, Australia and has been in Singapore for the past 7 years.

Jason has a wealth of experience leading, managing, and delivering projects across the APAC region in a variety of sectors such as commercial, mission critical, defence, infrastructure, education, medical science & research, health, and historical buildings.

Jason is a professional and motivated project and design lead. Utilising his practical experience, Jason can grasp technical, management and commercial concepts and implement the required methodologies to meet all engineering and delivery challenges set by clients. Jason has a can-do approach and enjoys challenging the norm to develop and deliver technically robust, commercially solutions.

Nick is an Associate Director based in our London office. He is a charted mechanical engineer with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) with over 13 years’ experience.

Nick has extensive experience in the building services industry across a wide range of sectors including airports, commercial, retail, residential, mixed use, high rise and infrastructure designs; having worked in both London and Sydney.

His day-to-day role includes leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery through a hands-on approach. Nick prides himself on recognising our client’s end-user value, ensuring the optimum and most sustainable design is provided to maximise this.

Fozail is a professional Engineer with almost 15 years experience in Building Services. He has a passion for quality and high standards in all aspects of building design and experience in India, Singapore, U.K, USA, Australia and the Middle East. As Associate Director MEP for B&W, he is responsible for the Plumbing & Fire Fighting design and the coordination of all MEP services and external utilities, delivering projects to a high standard, the utmost quality and within the project’s budget.

He has delivered more than 100 projects, in sectors such as commercial, hospitality, residential, airport, railway stations and mixed used development designs, from pre-concept through to handover. He is a Certified Accredited Professional of Indian Green Plumbers.

He has worked with various International consulting companies and this experience enables him to have a better understanding of project life cycle challenges. He uses this 360-degree approach to ensure the success of each project.

Karl Snowball is a Technical Director at Black & White Engineering holding a first class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

With experience since 2006, his particular skills include all aspects of the electrical building services design from concept through to detailed design and handover.

As an one of the first Autodesk Certified Professionals to gain accreditation in the UK, Karl is a committed supporter of BIM processes and their correct application. He actively and continually pushes the development and implementation of BIM within Black and White to improve design efficiency on all projects.

Karl began his engineering career working as an Avionics Engineer for the Royal Air Force (RAF).

Jason is a principal engineer based in our Singapore office. As an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) with the Uptime Institute, he has worked on numerous data centre builds across Southeast Asia, aside from various other build types including aviation, healthcare, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, hospitality, mixed use and residential.

With over 10 years of experience in the building services engineering consultancy industry between Malaysia and Singapore, he brings valuable expertise in the design of mechanical services, particularly ACMV for mission critical builds in tropical climates, having experienced the different project life cycle phases of initiation, planning, execution and closing across multiple projects.

Jason likes to think that he can still get away with playing video games in his spare time, besides indulging in his other passions of deep fried food and ice cream!

Ashish is an electrical & electronics engineer  with having Fire life safety PG Diploma in Fire and Safety Management from Nagpur. He is handling complete MEP team and coordinate with client to meet the project requirement .

He has more than 16 years of experience in consultancy field and involved in each type of project, i.e.  commercial, residential, hospitality, educational and healthcare. As approved FLS auditor in RGH group.

He involved in designing of all reputed hotel brands like IHG, Marriott, Radisson, Hilton, Sheraton etc. as well as participated in writing in IHG design guidelines. He has an proficient background into electrical engineering and a very good local knowledge.

Chief Financial Officer

Stephen has over 37 years experience in the industry, having started in 1983 as a graduate QS for a contractor, going on to complete his MCIOB and then an LLB. Stephen has gained wide experience in various procurement models, including traditional contracting, construction management, management contracting and design & build. In 1996 Stephen moved from the construction side to engineering consultancies and has been based in Malaysia, Singapore, UK and Taiwan.

In 2005 Stephen moved to the Middle East where his project work has covered both the property and building sector and heavy civils engineering.

Stephen has worked on projects that include the Gatwick Airport South Terminal extension, Taiwan High Speed Rail, the Burj Khalifa among many other notable projects.

Apart from his project and general commercial and contractual work, Stephen is also experienced in corporate operational matters such as financial reporting, audit reviews, compliance and ethics, insurance, licencing, agents and integration/merger activities.

Wyn is a Technical Director with 40 years’ UK and international electrical engineering experience. He has specialist knowledge in the mission critical sector including data centres, trading floors, financial services headquarters and high-rise buildings. Wyn is responsible for the delivery of engineering standards and the design audit process. He also has undertaken client technical representative and project management office roles for several international technology and financial services companies. In addition to detail design these assignments have included initial concept designs that have developed innovative solutions to address client’s briefs.

Wyn’s international projects have included southern and western Africa, North America, SE Asia, Australia and across Europe adopting the various local country standards and codes of practice.

Wyn has previously participated on British Standard committees and since 1995 has been registered with the IET as an expert witness in the field of electrical engineering.

He is a chartered mechanical engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Darren has worked on projects within the commercial and data centre sector markets. He has experience working on a variety of project roles including design, in depth technical reviews and working client side within the data centre industry.

With strong communication & interpersonal skills, Darren is able to better understand his clients’ problems & challenges. He is able to convey very technical solutions into clearer, concise & actionable steps so that clients, at all levels of the business, can truly understand how these solutions can benefit their business.

As a proactive individual, he places great emphasis on finding optimal technical solutions to help his clients in the long run with an appreciation of the design, procurement, construction, testing and operations perspectives.

Sue is a HR/Business Manager based in the Singapore office with the responsibility of coordinating business operations including HR, Marketing, Administration and Finance. She supports the director in focusing on attracting, engaging a talent pool and developing collaborative ways of working with the aim of driving and enhancing practice performance in line with the global overall practice strategy of the organisation.

Sue joined Black & White in 2020 following careers in various sectors including IT, Consultancy and Events Management. Her professional management experience in a global setting in a professional services environment has moulded her the ability to work effectively under high pressure in informal teams and collaborate cross-practice and cross-function in a global organisation. Her forward thinking mindset and problem/people solving skills ensures that she is an asset to the B&W team.

Chris is a mechanical engineer with over 40 years experience in the construction industry of which 20 years have been spent in the data centre arena leading project teams in the delivery of complex projects across the industry.

Chris’ experience spans the various facets of the construction industry, having successfully worked in design and build contracting, design consultancies, construction management and in client end user delivery. He has a very broad understanding of the client’s and project teams’ needs, providing him with a very driven and focused attitude towards successful project delivery.

Chris focuses on getting the design right first time to ensure quality and surety of project delivery. He is an active team member who leads from the front. He maintains a strong technical bias and remains hands-on with many projects.

Scott is the Regional Sustainability Lead (UK & Europe) based in the Newcastle office. He has an Meng in Mechanical Engineering , is an accredited BREEAM assessor, a Low Carbon Consultant (LCC) and a level 5 Non Domestic Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA).

Scott is highly experienced in sustainable building design, with particular expertise in building physics and net zero carbon building design. Scott has experience in a wide range of sectors from data centres, public sector and commercial in The UK, the Middle East and Australia.

With a background in building services, Scott can help to deliver low carbon and sustainable buildings while considering the feasibility and affordability of a range of solutions. With extensive energy modelling experience, including operational energy prediction, thermal comfort, building regulation compliance and daylight analysis Scott has a good understanding of what works and takes a holistic approach to finding the optimum outcome on each project.

As an accredited BREEAM assessor with experience in LEED, Green Star and the WELL Building Standard, Scott understand that sustainability goes beyond just energy carbon and can work with all members of a design team from architects, to building users to ecologists to ensure that all aspects of sustainability are considered.

Having spent time working in Australia, Scott has experience working over a range of climates and building regulations. He also has experience of working with NABERS the Australian in use energy performance rating tool which is coming to the UK imminently. Scott is currently working as the lead Carbon Consultant on several Net Zero Carbon Buildings which will be the first in their region.

Andy has over 35 years experience in the design and management of technically demanding fast track construction projects. He has worked throughout the UK, Middle East and has spent over 15 years based in Asia assisting western clients both entering and expanding within the region, including 10 years in China and 6 years in Singapore.

Andy’s experience spans industrial, commercial, retail, technology, hospitality, medical/pharma and logistics sector projects from super-scale logistics facilities for Nike, high tech aero-composite plants for Boeing, infant formula manufacturing facilities for Abbott and healthcare product manufacture for Reckitt Benckiser. Andy’s clients looked to replicate their global facilities within a challenging marketplace which required significant focus on highly tailored localised solutions, approvals, process & procedures. Andy’s most recent projects includes a significant focus on new build and expansion of technology sector and data centre projects across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.

Director

Barry joined Black & White in 2020 as Director, initially based out of the Dubai office with the responsibility of business development in expanding target geographical locations, notably in South East Asia. Initially focused on supporting the growth of the Technology sector, Barry will look to develop parallel business opportunities using his extensive experience in the Hospitality and Building Performance fields.

Based in the UAE since 2018, Barry was head of Building Performance, which included Commissioning Management, MEP Advisory and Innovation in his prior role. He spent the previous 7 years in India where he founded a new Consultancy business and led the development of applying BIM to building services engineering, and handover information for projects. Barry was responsible for building his team to 100 strong over a 4-year period.

He has gained substantial experience in all aspects of design and construction during his career, and his innovative thinking often leads to more efficient cost-effective solutions in the projects he is involved in. He serves on both the CIBSE/ASHRAE scientific committee for reviewing technical papers submitted for conferences, and AIRAH technical committees for the same, plus writing/reviewing various publications.

Barry is a passionate engineer who strives for excellence and innovation in all areas. He provides strong mentoring for his team and leads by example. He has won numerous awards, and always encourages his team to expand their thinking to develop better solutions in every area of their work.

Arman is the Director of our Global Design Hub in Manila and Head of Electrical Engineering team. He is a Registered Electrical Engineer and member of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc.

He has experience since 1997 working in the building services industry. Arman’s role comprises of management of technical operations and supervise team resource for projects to meet specific time and quality requirements, technical design work, design checking and approvals as appropriate to the organisation of each particular project, provide project liaison and design coordination with lead offices and monitor financial and commercial performance of design projects.

He has held various positions in this field, including designer, engineering head, project management engineer, project engineer and design manager. Areas of expertise include developing schemes, concept design and preparation of tender documents.
