Dubai Expo 2020 Signature Pavilion Completes

24/11/2020

World Expos are one of the oldest and largest international events on the planet, taking place every five years and lasting six months. Having been held all over the world since the very first World Expo in London in 1851, the next World Expo will be hosted in the UAE in 2021. Under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” the UAE Pavilions are designed to portray three interwoven ideas: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

The main site of Dubai Expo 2020 will be a 438-hectare area located between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The master plan, is organized around a central plaza, entitled Al Wasl which means “the connection”, and is enclosed by three large pavilions each one dedicated to a sub-theme. A new Dubai Metro route will take 44,000 passengers per hour to and from the Expo site in under 16 minutes from Dubai Marina.

Black & White Engineering are proud to be part of the ALEC MEP team delivering shop drawings for one of these large signature pavilions; Mobility.

This was a particularly challenging project to coordinate due to the limited plant space and congested service corridors. Clash detection was carried out continually to ensure the areas released (on a petal by petal, level by level basis) were clash free.

During the course of the project Black & White engineering produced just under 300 shop drawings to LOD 400 for all main MEP services.

It was a great effort by the team including Ferdinand Siman leading the Mechanical design services and Donald Sengco leading the Electrical design services.

Our engineers were able to visualise all services with the assistance of our REVIT team and Navisworks, which was led by Glenn Layag and Ruel Perilla from the Dubai office.

Mobility Pavilion has now received its building completion certificate. Congratulations to our whole team on the completion of Black & White Engineering’s scope of services, another successful project delivered by our team.

We are all looking forward to seeing the site develop into an exceptional destination.
