The hotel – which is now part of Marriott International’s Autograph portfolio, over-looks the Caspian Sea, comprising 818 guest rooms and suites with full amenities – was opened on program to accommodate visitors and participants attending the 2015 European Games being hosted by Baku in June.
The hotel was completed from conception to handover in 24 months including a period of 16 months for construction. The brownfield site was previously a shipyard and the entire White City district has been transformed with the Boulevard Hotel having pride of place on the promenade.
Black & White undertook full MEP services engineering with additional specialty services for AVIT, acoustics, fire and life safety, the swimming pool and water features. Following contract award Black & White deployed a full team of engineers to oversee the MEP construction activities, testing, commissioning and ensure smooth handover to the hotel operator.
A challenging prerequisite of the client was to ensure all MEP systems were fully inspected for operational and workmanship defects and that all issues be satisfactorily resolved for a defect free handover. This was influential in the hotel being granted unconditional occupational status by the hotel operator’s international verification team, an unprecedented achievement for the region and rarely achieved internationally.
